Man, you said it. There are so many complex aspects of this thing. I have spent several hours on line today just researching O2 sensors. If you care about it; due to the waaaaay aft location of my rear O2 sensors and cats, I'm going with Bosch 13111 (C5 Corvette) O2s. They have larger heaters in them and should work better with the cooler exhaust gasses farther back. These seem to be a common fix over on the Ls1 Tech forum that I frequent.

I'm telling you, this build wouldn't happen without forums to answer questions. Thanks guys!

 

Just my 2 cents:
With all your know how, I don't see why you couldn't use a bottle of MAP gas from Home Depot rigged to an igniter and a solenoid to heat the O2 sensor.
I mean the rest of your build is Hi Tech.

MAPP gas is still available but it does not burn as hot as it used to.

 

That's because it's not really MAPP gas but a substitute. Contrary to the post above, MAPP gas isn't illegal; it's just that the only place that made it in the US stopped making it in 2008. The new stuff is essentially just LP gas.

 

They have three wired heated O2 sensors, I had one in the headers in my old show truck

Might have miss it but why are you using the rear O2 sensors? On my '39 street rod 5.3 build they were programmed out. You may have to jump thru emissions hoops that "older" cars don't have to.

 

That's a very good question, This being a California car, it will never pass emissions completely. I am however trying to give the illusion of compliance. The rear O2 sensors are just one piece of the puzzle. Weather or not the sensors are used will be determined later. The rear sensor bungs may be capped off. Don't know at this point. But at least it is plumbed fo it.
