Vent actuator, but which 1

06
Found out my hvac is not working quite right. It switched from floor to defrost or vent, as it should. What happens is the left side blows more than the right side. It is not dual climate zone. So, I am assuming the is a vent door that isn't moving right, most likely because of an actuator. But, I suppose it could be dirty. I have no problems tearing my dash apart, as I am guessing it's up behind the dash.
My question is, since there is likely more than 1 actuator, which 1 is the culprit. It appears there could be 3 different actuators, recirc, blend, and air inlet. My guess, it's the blend. I haven't tried turning on recirc.

Have you tried searching on this forum ? I recall numerous threads regarding blend doors and actuators. Many of those threads had pics of the actuators and their locations.
I even recall 1 thread talking about a problem like yours, air blowing more from 1 side.

Does it do this in all modes(floor, center, defrost)?

Hm, I did do a search, but sometimes if a person doesn't use the right word combo, it doesn't come up.
I does it for sure in defrost and vent. So, I assume it will do it in floor.

My guess is a duct disconnected or obstructed. There is no door for left/right.
Have you pulled the cabin air filter and looked for junk in the duct work?

No, I haven't pulled anything apart yet. And it'll be a few more days, since I'll likely be digging out of around 15 inches oh wet, heavy, drifted snow in the next couple of days. It would seem odd that something suddenly fell off, but there have been a buttload of potholes showing up. I don't think I even have a cabin filter installed.

I think this is the one FMG is remembering.

Seems to be a different issue, though. Try it without the cabin filter.

If you don't know about a cabin filter, chances are it is really clogged, sagging, soaked or absent. If absent there is a good chance that something has gotten and blocking things.
No special tools or genius needed to check.
Here is one of many youtubes on the subject:
1. open glove box
2. remove contents of glove box (or they will be on floor after step 3)
3. move the support straps to unclip
4. remove box
5. flip door open
6. pull old filter out
