Happy New Year Oldblue! I hope your day was a great one my friend.

As for my HHR's, they stayed parked, only one day is more dangerous on the roads here than December the 24th....New Years Eve Day.

Everything is closed early and folks are on autopilot heading to the ABC Stores(for non-Carolinians, they are stores that sell the "hard stuff" under the administration of The North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission)

If you're in Carolina, and you're too young to remember Joie Chitwood's Thrill Drivers at the County Fair, just watch the demolition derby in an ABC Store's parking lot on December 31st.

replacement wheel
Yesterday 01.01.2015 - I and my woman decided to go to the "Ice town". This town is made of ice each year in honor of the new year - ice slides, attractions, great fun.
But as soon as I drove away from the home - the front wheel blew. Died valve.
Not very nice. On the street -8F, I crawl on my belly with a jack in one hand and a wrench in the other hand. Spade is also needed, the entire bottom of the car plastered with thick ice crust. Spent half an hour just to find a place for the jack. Froze like a dog and tore gloves.
Then - another hour ride through the city in search of the current tire shop. Of course, January 1, most of them does not work.

I can say. The procedure for replacing a wheel, which in summer is very simple, in the winter turns into a hellish amusement. Frostbitten fingers and knees are guaranteed.
And more: stepney is a very bad tool for traveling over snow and ice. Grip is almost absent.

Jeez Andrey, it's bad enough changing a tire on a 100°F(38°C) day here in Carolina, I'd hate to try it in the snow and ice at -8°F(-22°C).

С Новым годом, мой друг! Май 2015 должны быть заполнены с удачи и процветания вам и вашей семье.

As for me, mine all stayed parked, we're Holiday'd out and way past tired.

Welcome to the "Second, Third, or Fourth Windshield" club Roy.

Did you go with the OEM style, or one with a tint band across the top?

Being that the glass in an HHR is a bonded "stress member", once a crack starts, they'll usually crack from A-Pillar to A-Pillar right before your eyes.

Yeah, there was a loud crack and it spider webbed quite quickly. Was quite the shock. It has some tint but not much. The old one had tinting film across the top, i'll probably have a window tinting service put it back on.

I think our own Moderator/Loveable Curmudgeon donbrew has the record for windshield replacements so far, the OEM glass is oddly delicate for its intended purpose.

I know what I'll be doing with one of my HHR's tomorrow morning at 8:00am. Michelle bit into a biscotti last night and broke two of her crowns. My wife now has a smile befitting a hockey player.

She says they don't hurt, but she's very chagrined(no pun intended), that they fell victim to a biscotti that had been dunked in coffee.

Oh well, life has a habit of throwing little curveballs when you're not expecting them.

Rain here too Oldblue, severe thunderstorm warnings in effect actually. This promoses to be an odd weather week, rain and 75 degrees today, and then a forecasted high of 19 degrees by Friday.
