General HHR Discuss anything related to the Chevy HHR that doesnt seem to fit into the more specific categories below.

What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?

From what I've read, there will be no Granite. It was killed off because they didn't want it competing against the Buick Encore and also it would not fit the Gmc truck image.

Issues found after ~2 weeks:
1. As mentioned before - cruise control. Unbelievable, but still had no chance to check if any of brake lights don't work. Sure I can put as brick on the pedal, but I don't have one in my car:) Hopefully, someday I will remember to ask someone I know to check this when I brake.
2. Some nasty plastic interior noise coming from the right side. A bit annoying - need to find the source and fix this. Yeah, the interior is cheap, but considering there is only 1 source of this noise - that's not bad. Remember driving top-of-the line Toured with V10 Diesel engine and hearing 2 noise sources:)
3. Rear wiper hits the metal when working and getting to its lowest position. Need to see if I can alter its position a bit. Another small, but annoying thing.

All in all - a great ride. I bought it with less that 50K miles and with clean history, so this is something I'll drive for 2-3 years unless I decide to get something like Infinity FX35 or Lexus RX350. But I'm not getting back to lower sedans - it's a pain to drive these here with heavy snow during 3-5 months.

Easy enough to use a glass storefront as a mirror to check the brake lights.

And a new issue today. Was going home and all the gauges/warning lights acted funny (simple electric glitch which is OK when temperature jumps from below to above 0 Celsius) for a second. Everything got back to normal, but the theft-deterrent light stayed on. Turning engine off and on didn't solve it...

Thats interesting..only time I saw the theft light on is when the battery got too low in charge. Lights will act funny too..maybe the alternator is going bad...

Yep, playing word association , last word first, answer question with a question, and scratch pad for a couple years, will run up the total..

It was time .....

We sold an 04 Buick Rendezvous, as it was needing substantial suspension work and other repairs that was too deep for what we was willing to invest in it. The HHR was a better choice for us. We had used the HHR as a rental vehicle for several long trips and came away VERY impressed. I love the retro look, versatility, and the fuel economy. We bought an 07 HHR LT2 a few weeks ago. I negotiated a great deal on one from an adjoining state and it was worth the trip to save about $1500.00.
