GM Recalling 2006-2008 HHR's
Hey Deb (P-24)
I received my notice on 8 April 2008 and contacted the Dealership that does our Police vehicle and it took them 18 minutes to do my 2006 HHr from start to finish. You know I can not even tell that they did anything at all. They did a GREAT JOB ON MINE what ever they added. (Padding)
No problems at all I had mine done 10 April 2008
Good luck with yours
Rudy

Took mine in this morning at 8:15 (had appointment scheduled). Also gave my Service Writer a copy of the TSB on the armrests. Took her to my car and we looked at the arm rest together. Noticeable slant on the driver's arm rest compared to the passenger seat, with both seatbacks set at same position. Took my car back into the shop to get started at 8:30. At 9:30 they said it was ready. A bit longer than others were reporting. No wrinkles or marks in the headliner whatsoever. Happy with the final result -- I was nervous about it. As for the arm rest, they say that the ones on my car are the correct, new versions. Then said that with the seatback in a "normal" driving position, the arm rest was level. When I sat in the car at the "normal" driving position, yes the arm rest was level, but I felt like I was laying way back. No, not a "normal" driving position. Told them I would do the fix myself using the "How To" posted on this site. Now, get this: My Service Writer told me to "be careful of what people say on those sites, because they really don't know what's going on." So guess I shouldn't listen to any of you, right?
I got the TSB in the mail last week. I'll take it in in two weeks to coordinate a "cheap" oil change coupon I received. The exception is that I want a Mobil 1 oil change. I've only at 58% after 5000 miles, but next week I'm off and will put on another 1500 miles or so. Then I'll be at ~33,000 miles on the car and the warrenty will be up at 36,000 miles, so I'll have the dealer check out the car.
I've changed the cabin filter already, I'd do the air filter, but it looks like a PITA to change it.

Got Smoke back from the dealer and all is good. They did get a few fingerprints on the headliner which I made them remove before taking possession of the car. Also had Nitro in tires topped off and hood insulation plugs replaced that fell off and disappeared off the face of the planet.
Not sure how long it took...dropped it off this morning and brought back work vehicle we had worked on yesterday to work. They called a couple hours later and said it was ready.

Just picked my car up, they repainted all of the sandblasted parts for free! I was worried because I have 55k on my ride now. When I got there the car was filthy and had overspray all over everything. Needless to say since they had it a week I was prety pissed! My serviceman told me to please leave it with him and he would have it taken care of. Four hours later that car looks brand new! They buffed and waxed the whole car and cleaned the interior, and even topped off the gas! BUT! Right before I left he told me they where not able to take care of the recall because the parts have not showed up yet, so its back to the dealer when they show up, but he did say he would fill the tank again and have it detailed again when I bring it back.
I recieved my letter from GM Canada the other day.
I opened it up and found it very interesting the GM Canada does not issue "Recall" letters anymore instead they are letters informing of a "Customer Satisfaction Program." Sounds awfully nice of them to offer such a thing, I'm glad they are looking out for my satisfaction. What does GM does in the US call this problem?
As an aside (and hopefully not a hijack) I'd like to ask Debbie a question. You had your tires topped up with nitrogen when you were in for service, how much were they down by as compared to when you had them initially filled?

Had the recall done today, took a short time once the car was in the bay (about 30-40 minutes, about). Had it done at Paddock, so they had a nice service history limited to what was done before I took delivery ...
I decided to check out the car lot while I was there and had a salesman (not Brian, my salesman, he was off) try to sell me an SS, the only one they had there. (FYI: Paddock has two lots, a display/service/sales lot and a storage lot ten blocks away - the bulk of their stock is kept in the storage lot and only brought to the main lot when it's sold or test-driven) Nice car, too, 5-speed Victory Red. They also had a BFM 2LT (impressive color!) and a black LS.
