GM Recall Campaigns For Information & Discussion of General Motors Recalls

NOW there's a power steering recall on GM vehicles?! No, it's a warranty extension!

Disillusioned.
Not getting your point in posting up a bunch of rehash that's been discussed here over and over.

Now if you're just venting your "disillusion" then OK. But, this really isn't the thread for that.

This "Oh, that means EVERY HHR sold in the USA has a defective EPS motor!!!"
is a false statement. SS's have a different EPS motor and don't have a recall on theirs.

Based on his 3 posts on his first day after joining, I'd say his name should be dysfunctional not disillusioned. JMO

All kidding aside by me, I'm sure his post regarding using a magnet for the metal fragments was actually an attempt at humor.

But obviously, and in fairness to him, he was probably just venting.

SS is turbo, right, the post was all non-turbo correct?

I called the local dealership and the say whats my vin, I give it to them and the say its on the recall for the lock/key and nothing else, I asked the dealership about the extended warranty stated on the Bulletin and they say I don't know nothing about that, it's not on your vin.

I called GM customer support and ask them about the extended warranty if that's what you would like to call it and they say give me your vin and I did and they come back and say it's not in the recall.... really, I again read to them their own statement... for the HHR non-turbo not subject to the recall and so on and they say it's not covered my the recall maybe later. so I ask you... what's the next step?

I did speak with one individual at GM customer support his name was Em, he did find the Bulletin and said I was correct and I was covered under the extended warranty and was suppose to send the information to the Chevy Dealership which I had called after I got the notice in the mail about the lock recall and they were suppose to order the parts and call me when they came in.... but when I called them three weeks later to see about the email from Em confirming the extended warranty on the eps motor, the woman could not find me in the system for 20 minutes and then when she did said there were no parts on order.

3 more times I called the GM customer support and 3 more times I was told there is no recall attached to my vin.... somewhere along the line America has sopped speaking and understanding the written word.... not associated with the recall. so what is it associated with?

Did I miss something? I did not see that your EPS was broken. Fix is not replacing for no reason.

I just received my recall letter from GM for the EPS on my 2009 HHR a few days ago. "Parts are not currently available, however, we will notify you again when they are available." No estimate as to when parts will be available. Finally got the ignition lock repaired in early June ... it's frustrating, but guess we'll just have to wait it out.

I'm in the same boat with my 2010 Panel, it's at the dealer spending many nights "in the box" waiting for the part. Luckily they gave me basically a new loaner until it's ready... But talk about anticipation

Strange? When the EPS went out on our '06 about a month ago the dealer had a new motor in stock. Evidently there's a difference in the later years and that's why they get a Recall and the older years get the "Extended Warranty" which I haven't heard a word about except here incidentally. The service rep at the dealer doesn't know a thing about it either?

If you heard about here, you also have the bulletin number to show the SM.

Has anyone who received recall letters for power steering had the parts come in and work done yet? I have had the ignition recall done on both my 2006 and 2010. Only remaining is power steering recall on 2010.
