NOW there's a power steering recall on GM vehicles?! No, it's a warranty extension!
Take a look at the other endless recall threads. The answer is "yes".
I bought the car from a Chevy dealer in early June, who then held the car until the recalls could be done. I believe dealers that have cars in their inventory yet can't "deliver" them are getting the parts first, at least that's what they mentioned. Brought it home yesterday and all is good.
The Lifetime Replacement on the EPS motor in GM Bulletin 14119 for 2006-2007 and some 2008's is a joke. A friend of mine had her EPS motor go out on her going down the Interstate in the inside lane at 70 mph.She was lucky that she was able to make it to the shoulder of the road without wrecking. She was able to drive home after she sat there for a while and got it to her dealer the the next day.
Before she took it in to the dealer she had talked to me and told me what had happened, that's when I made her copies of the GM bulletin and also the one from NHTSA website http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/..._ids=14V153000. Her dealer claimed to know nothing about this and told her that she would have to pay for the repair out of her pocket and then try to get her money back from GM.
After she had it repaired she called GM and was rudely treated and questioned as to where she got the info that her EPS motor was covered by any Lifetime Replacement. According to the rep she talked to there was no such thing and they did not have to reimburse her.(BTW this rep was at GM corp. offices in Detroit, she called them after getting the run around from Chevy customer support.)
She then called the NHTSA and filed a complaint and was told the same thing that they didn't know anything about a extended warranty on the EPS. Even though the NHTSA has this info on their website and there are plenty of sources to find the GM bulletin they both deny it . I know that I'm not crazy because I have seen the info about the ESP Lifetime Replacement on the NHTSA website and also have gotten confirmation about GM bulletin 14119 from a very good source at my local dealer(He had a hard time finding it because it said it was hidden in the info from GM that he gets on his computer) Sounds like someone is not wanting to take responsiblty again.
BTW GM is now a LLC (Limited Liabilty Company)which means the executives at GM are less prone to being sued for their bad decisions that end up killing people.Greed vs people's lives................The greedy will have to answer to the Judge of all Judges one day

I have had the "huh, where'd you find that" response before with an official GM TSB in my hand. When I told the Service Writer he could go to the GM website and download it himself he got really offended and said (this is actually a quote) "It's not my job to look for TSBs". I made a scene in the service area loud enough for the Service Mgr to notice, he came out and "scanned" my printout then misquoted it to the writer and told him to do it.
They really don't care, but sometimes they do the right thing because they are too stupid to realize it. The Service Manager is a business guy, the Service Writers are just that and the techs went to the same trade schools as the guys down the street. Don't get me started on the techs education on a TechII scanner. This is NOT limited to GM.

Power Steering Recall
Can anyone fill me in on the power steering recall. I have my car scheduled to go into the dealer on monday and was wondering what was the root cause of the issue. I have never had an issue with the steering (other than some suspect clunks). If anyone has some knowledge about this recall, anything would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
