The programming will not work with a manual. For the SSs that have had the upgrade done, after the pump is installed the tech will have to reprogram and select the option "with vacuum pump".

So, retrofitting the pump hardware to a 5-spd vehicle likely wouldn't just be a case of installing hardware and splicing into harnesses etc... some support would be needed from the software side as well.

Just a note... I have never experienced any issues with my 5-spd. I live in Ontario so the vehicle has definitely seen a huge range of cold-hot temperatures.
I did a couple of times good buddy, but I use the remote start and by the time I get to the SS, it's already idled down and ready to go.
Get that Kit installed ==> sell the house, family or anthing.

So if I bring my SS in to the dealer, they will know how to fix and have the parts to do it? Can I expect it to be done in one trip, or do I need to bring it in one day, then have them order stuff, and then bring it back another day?

No. But you can give them the bulletin number. #09-05-22-001

Thanks to ChevyMgr from bringing this to attention on here.

Talked with the dealer, passed on the TSB, and they've ordered the parts and should be here within a week to do the fix.

They've flashed the ECM 2 times in past 10 months and still having the issue.

Well I now have the vacuum pump installed. Dealer was given 3hrs to do the install and it took them 7hrs. They weren't to happy about that. It seems to have fixed the problem. Seems funny that boost gauge still reads low vacuum on startup like it did before but I have brakes. I guess that's all I wanted.

Can you post some pictures of the upgrade? Where does it mount and what does it look like?

I looked but I can't see it. It's buried under a bunch off hoses and stuff.
