HHR 2010 Engine Fan won't shut off

I live up north, in cooler weather. I drove to SC. A typical 12 hour ride turned into 16 hours with tons of "stop and go" in hot weather. I noticed the coolant temp got up to 200 when stuck in traffic but would drop down into 190s when we would drive. I parked the car overnight and woke to a dead battery. When I hooked up the new battery, I found the engine fan would not shut off. I unhooked the battery but dont know what to do to get the fan to turn off. Any advice?

Which engine? Do you have a "tune"? I the battery original or old?

When you jumpstarted the car the fan started running? Was the A/C or defrost on?

If it is an SS; fuse #7 under the hood controls the fan. There is a control module mounted on the fan shroud that might have gone bad or the engine temp sensor might have gone bad.

Have you checked the coolant level under the pressure cap, recently, ever?

I have never heard of this happening. I can't see anything obvious in the wiring. The fan may stay on for several minutes if the coolant gets hot enough.
