Trailer Queen!
This last time I was in KY, I drove the Boy's Lexus to his folks house (Western KY) -- besides being gorgeous country, I loved all the twists and turns and was thinking how I'd dig taking my baby on those roads--don't have an SS, but these cars do love the twisty's.
Sorry for the thread hijack, but this is making me more sure I will pay to ship the car out there!

Ship it, insure it & don't worry about it, you'll have plenty of other stuff to contend with..
Thanks Pitbull! Yes, Yes, Yes our little cars love the twisty ups and downs. the road leading into Gatlinburg through Smoky Mountain National Park is almost a rollercoaster. We love it, although my wife keeps grabbing for the non-existing Oh Sh@# handle above the window.
I love the Dragon, a buddy and I (before I got married) went up for a Honda SC2000 event a couple of years ago. Being in a drop-top made those drop-offs that much more scarry! Some of the cars in the parade, were attempting drifts, we were just hoping that Scott's brakes didn't fade too much.... by the time we got to the other end, there was a noticed heat-soak on the brakes... and thats a tiny car. Really cool police escort too those cop bikes were definately showing off!
In your case loading backwards probably won't affect much...but what you didn't consider was..al the weight is now on the rear of the trailer, trying to lever up the front hitch...not good for sway control or braking....remember, I said in your case it is probably ok(size and weight of truck being loaded and such),,,but others trying this will be in for a few surprises...so beware....first time you do a heavy brake and the trailer tries to pick up the rear of the tow vehicle is an eye opener....
In all cases, the tongue weight needs to be at least 10 percent of the gross trailer weight. Been doing this for 18 years now and never had an incident, but have seen many.
The only way to get around zero hitch weight is to tow on all fours (wider stance with steering) instead of using a trailer. You can do this with the HHR including the SS...
Two weeks ago when I got my SS, I used a U-Hall two axle trailer on my Suburban. Loaded the SS nose first. No clearance issue with the air dam loading or unloading. However, nose first was a lot of weight on the tongue. I should have loaded it rear first, but didn't. The trailer was way to heavy, but as a rental they have to be. Really loaded down the Suburban. 500 miles round trip was a challenging drive for sure. I do have a great SS though...
Worked in Louisville, KY a lot the last few years, I like it, but SoCal is where I'll stay..

Still in negotiations about moving ... I am a SoCal Gal and he would rather come here -- got over a year to sort it out.
Definitely going to ship if I do have to move!

In your case since you had the Sub'rbn should have considered a tow dolly if it was possible....low tongue wt.This way you pull the load and not CARRY it....much easier on the tow vehicle...
