I started this winter worried about the stock tires, but they haven't been too bad. I've taken my LS down some nasty country roads with 6" of consistent coverage and it hasn't gotten me stuck yet!

My temp hasn't gone above 199* that I've seen. The left side of my windshield doesn't defrost well and if I don't consistently run the defroster and use wiper fluid it will freeze on me. Never a problem with my old Buick, could be the fluid, I suppose...

I like how it handles with e-brake slides, I think the shape of the car gives it a good balance for it.

All-in-all, not too shabby for Indiana winters...

how do you get it so that it doesnt grumble at you when you rip on the brake lever? mine all but takes away my b'day when i do that LOL!!!

anyway, back to the window defrogger--- yeah ur right... the edges dont get defrosted under heavy load (was doing 75 last night with a layer of frost on the windshield-- after bout 20 miles it finally was gone but i see your point... its like the edges need their own vents----

I'm glad our snow is gone, I hope it doesn't snow again either.

I also have 16" Blizzaks on and it goes pretty well in the snow. One odd thing that I noticed this winter driving was the ice chunks that build up on the bottom of the rocker panels behind the front wells. I hit a couple speed bumps with the ice chunks crashing into the speed bumps. Not good. G.B.

Two observations on my end.
1. The washer fluid resevoir is about 4 oz short of a full gallon.
If it's empty and you open a new jug, you have this useless little bit left over.

2. Snow and ice can build up inside the wheels causing a shty out of balance vibration on the freeway.

Boy did I find this out the hard way around here!! It scared the crap out of me. I had to finally stop and go to a car wash to fix the problem.

Haven't driven the SS in much snow but considering the tires, she's done pretty well. I drive the Jeep if we have anything sticking, don't need to tempt fate but I will be getting snows sooner or later.

The washer resevoir is just a bit short of a gallon on 98 percent of all cars. That is nothing new. When I was wrenching on cars in High School and Collage I filled a lot of them and few ever took a gallon.

The ice build up on the wheels I think is more than a HHR SS this year in Ohio. I have has a lot of people think they had a bad tire and I told them to was the ice off the wheels. This fixed all of them. We have just had a bad winter for Snow in Ohio this year.

My review of the HHR SS is that it is a very good winter car in the snow and with stability control a very good FWD car in the snow. I usally hate FWD because of the dredded lost of steering if the tires spin.

Winter tires help but are not required.

The only thing I have had to watch is when I push snow with the air dam. I fear paint damage on Ice but so far so good.

The bottom line is if you can't drive a HHR SS in the snow you should not be on the roads anyway.

We got almost a foot of snow overnight, and I didn't even consider driving the SS to work this morning. I went with the Avalanche instead.
