The wife came out with a cold drink when I honked... not disconnecting has its advantages!

So just to be clear, this set up will work with any of the radios the HHR can be bought with? Or is it only for the premium system?

After this is done I assume cruise still works? I see references to cutting with respect to the cruise control so the new wires have the cruise plug on them?

Sorry for the novice questions that many of you may see as stupid but I have never tinkered with wiring in a car before and this seems ridiculously easy and worthwhile so before I order parts I wanted to make sure I understood the implications...

The cutting simply refers to the removal of the harness you will be discarding. It's only to simplify the removal. You can get it out without cutting if you so desire, but it's a B**ch to get the connector out, that's all. If you don't want the old harness, you can cut it to pieces if you want to.

Cut it! Why would you want to keep it anyway?

My order status shows in progress and I ordered mine on 6/22. Have a question or 2 since I've never done anything like this. Well...take that back maybe...I bought a 6 disc player from another member and replaced my stock 1 disc...so I have torn it apart a little.

Anyway...once I get this apart, will it be painfully obvious what needs to be cut in order to make the install easier? Doesn't sound all that hard...I just need to make sure I have my ducks in a row and do this the easiest way possible. Sounds like only tools I need is my allen wrench set, screwdriver and side cutters...does that about sum it up?

Once again...dear boyfriend can't believe I'm gonna tear into my new car. Want to have everything down pat in my head so I can do this and actually look like I know what I'm doing. Did that when I installed the radio and he was totally amazed that I had it all figured out. Then I showed him SoCal's removal instructions...he said...those people are amazing...they are teaching you all sorts of stuff.

Thanks again to everyone here who takes the time to help out others. Without this group, my HHR would probably still look like it did the day I pulled off the lot. I wrote down all the mods I've done...and it's up to about 25 now, once this is done.
