Great post, I may do the same to mine.

Just a note: When servicing or working on your car that requires disconnecting the battery, always remove the negative cable first and install it last. Less chance of battery explosion. Beleive me, as an automotive (ground service equipment - ASE) electrician and an Aircraft electrician in the Navy I've seen many battery explosions. Had one blow up in my face, luckily I wasn't hurt since water was very close by and I was able to get all of the acid flushed off. My cloths didn't make out as well...LOL

So, is the steering wheel prewired for the controls? Do you just plug in the harness inside the steering wheel?

I went to http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ and here are the prices they have posted. Need to make sure this is right...so if someone can verify it...looks like it can be done for less than $65.00

15244413 Switch - $11.10 (Sugg Retail - $18.72)
15234343 Harness - $7.63 (Sugg Retail $12.90)

Total from them - $31.38

When I type in that part number it shows up as a switch. I just want to make sure I have the right parts and numbers before I order anything.

I'm sorry. You are correct. Part# 15234337 is the steering wheel module. Part# 15842365 is the switch that replaces part# 15244413.

there are two holes on the back of the steering wheel slide an allen wrench into these holes to relaese each side of the horn.
