Glad the photos and instructions were helpful. Thanks to steinywhhr for his photos and original idea. I just needed more than a few photos to do mine, since I had never done anything like that before. I figured if I needed them...I wasn't alone in that boat...thus the funny, yet serious instructions on post #33.

Wackaloon...are these the parts you ordered?

Smile Thanks

I wonder if chevy has noticed that these 3 parts ar selling faster than New HHR'S. The only post larger than this one in the paint chip issue.

Thanks Deb for making the idea so user Friendly, Without you this post may have never been so well recieved. Steiny

Think they might have a clue? I sure would if I worked in the parts department at GM...but then again, they may not know what vehicles they are being ordered for either...I believe the parts are a generic part and not HHR specific.

Thanks for the compliment Steiny...but without your idea, it would never have been here to begin with. This is a great little mod that all of us can do if we don't have these controls and I think it's wonderful that people are enjoying it. I know when I completed this mod, I was really pleased with myself that I could do something like this on my own car. And my family and friends were very impressed that I did this on my own, with the help from your photos and a few questions asked of other forum members like CH and MikeX.

For those of you who have not done this mod...or are teetering on whether or not to do it...go for it. Not only will you have the controls on your steering wheel, but you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you did it on your own and saved yourself the cost of the dealer install. (the dealers in my area wanted $200 for labor and $75 for parts...I don't think so)

This is a cool do it yourself mod and lets you save more money for other mods. And you ladies in the group, take it from me you can do this, I did and my boyfriend was totally impressed that I did.

Thanks again for the great idea steiny...

I ordered mine on Aug 21st from GM Parts Direct. The harness is backordered. Not in stock, no ETA or any idea when it will be back in stock. I have tired several dealerships and they all say the same thing. So nothing left to do but wait by the mailbox.

They will email you when it has arrived and provide you with a tracking number for your shipment. Trust me...it is worth the wait.
