I think someone said the bluetooth is an extra hardware piece and is integrated somehow with the onstar system.

Correct, and can not be added at this time either.

Harness Connection

OK, So I've been reading on this thread and I have a 2007 HHR LS with stock radio, no MP3, or changer. I pulled apart the harness and connector on the steering wheel, and I have a little concern. While looking at the PINS on the connection where the harness plugs in if you label the pins 1-7 from left to right, the right two pins, are not there, they look like they have been cut?? Is this normal?? I removed the harness from it's connector and am looking at the male side of the plug.

Is This Normal? I would imagine you need those wires connected for this to work?!?! I will se if i can get a picture on this as well. Thanks for your help.

The two pins that are missing I believe are extra grounds! Are you planning on doing this conversion? What I ended up doing was purchasing an SS Wheel with Radio Controls from ebay! $75.00? Removed the original wheel and did a Plug-in-Play with the SS Wheel! Alot less hassle than trying to route the new harness and controls along with a nice Smaller O.D. Leather Wrapped Wheel at about the Same Price! Also there are so many control variations that if you purchase a complete wheel say from ebay the two side are going to match!

Good Luck,

Good Luck,

Yup, you were right! I just got the parts in, I had to wait about a week. All is good after I re did the connector to be the same as the factory harness! Workes great and now my radio says MUTE!!! I've never seen it do that! lol!! Amazing tip and way easy to do! well worth the 65.00 and a week wait!!! I would suggest everybody do this!

I have a 2008 HHR LT and I want the radio controls on my sterring wheel. Can someone offer pics of the install and what parts are neccessary to complete the project?

Thank you!

You cannot order the parts for a 2008, you must order them for a 2007 and change some of the wiring pins.

You will need to order...

1 - Button switch and color matched cover
2 - Wiring harness

Please note whether you need flush or raised buttons to match the cruise buttons. When changing the Cruise side harness, move the color wires in the new connector to match old one.

On the Radio side, swap pins 1 and 4. These are on either side of the harness.

Regards,

Cajun / Al

Thats cool.....my cruise side did match up, but I had to swap
the radio side wires to get mine to work.

This was covered in another 2008 how-to last year. Could be related to the
date of manufacture.
