Ok... I was able to do a little more research.

It seems that 15234343 is the harness I need. Also, the part number for the flat buttons is 15842365.

It's hard since GM changed the numbers over time, but when I search the original numbers those come up in place...

Thank you for this tech!
I just bought my lil' sub on Friday and found this on Saturday. I ordered the parts for just under $75 delivered from GM Parts Direct. Can't wait for it show up.
Thanks again.

Got around to doing this today..... Sure was easy! Only thing was, I didn't even bother trying to route the wiring from the harness in the back through the tabs as it was from the factory. As long as they weren't in the way of anything or didn't get tangled when moving, I figured it's fine.

Looking to do this again. On my other HHR I bought a used leather wheel on Ebay with the radio controls for $100. Price has gone up considerably. Guess I'll buy the parts!

I have a late 2007 with raised cruise buttons. I had to swap wires on the cruise side. I was in a rush last year and mistakenly ordered the flush audio buttons which were plug and play. I decided to buy the raised audio buttons this month to even things out and they lit up but did not work. Thanks to post 558 I was able to fix it in the parking lot at work just now. Works like a champ, if anyone is interested in my flush buttons which still look new, let me know.

Yes, it is possible. Whether you have the raised buttons or the flush buttons both sets of part numbers are given in the 'sticky: Adding radio buttons on steering wheel'. I'm late for work or I would look it up for you but they ARE there.

Mouse over image to zoom Sell one like this 2008-2009 COBALT STEERING WHEEL eBay

Will this fit 2007? My steering wheel is fine and black leather, but beginning to show signs of wear and I know I will need to replace it eventually.

For those considering buying this, I note above that the price increased. Also see that it can be had for a "best offer" which typically means 10 -20% less than the list price.
