How many LED's did you actually use? We ordered 50 blue PLCC2 and 20 Red PLCC2 LED's and then like 5 SMT blue LED's for the rear window buttons. We swapped the factory head unit out so no need to replace all those. Although the headunit we installed has green buttons too...blah why's green so popular :)

See below for the table of LED Locations as observed in my car. Should be the same in yours as well. Looks like 4 for the Needles and 9 for the Gauges. You probably don't need to change the Bottom Row as these are for warnings ad such. Good Luck.

LED Locations:

I/P Cluster: (A=Pos, C=Neg)
D801 Water Temp Needle Color
D802 Speedometer Needle Color
D803 Tachometer Needle Color
D804 Fuel Needle Color
D806 Water Temp Gauge Color
D807 Speedometer Gauge Color
D808 Speedometer Gauge Color
D809 Speedometer Gauge Color
D810 Tachometer Gauge Color
D811 Tachometer Gauge Color

I wish I knew, That Green is gross looking, actually to be really technical it's Aqua Blue. Just awful. One of the reasons why i had to change all of mine.

Thanks! We may have a lot of extra's....haha oh well :) Only spent like 30 bucks for all of them. I ended up getting the PLCC2 LED's from mouser as well. They are close to the same size as the ones from the other place. I think they are 3.2x2.8 mm and the ones you used from the other place were 3.5.... I'm hoping it's close enough that they will work.

How or did you change the map and overhead lights with LED's? If so how many did you use and what color and size?

well if your talking about the overhead light, that is a Plug And Play change. Just get yourself a 5MM LED of any color you want. Remove both a-Pillars, Visors, Visor Clips, & Rearview Mirror. Pull the Headliner down a bit and there is a Clip holding the Overhead Light in place, Pull this clip towards the front of the car, and you should be able to pull the assembly out towards the bottom of the headliner. carefully remove the LED, it should just pull out fairly easily, then just plug the new one in and test the light works before putting it all back together. You do have to worry about polarity, but you don't have to worry about voltage because there is already a resistot built in!

I will have to let you know about th Map Lights on the Mirror, I haven't done that just yet.

Map lights

I have a 2009 HHR SS. The SS has two map lights that are next to the sunroof switches (front portion of the headliner). I do not know if these blubs can be replaced with LED's.

Overhead LED

On your post dated 3/1/2009 it states "For Overhead LED ONLY: 5mm LED". Is the overhead LED's 3MM or 5MM?

sorry it's 5MM i always confuse them. 3mm is too small. Also this thread is only meant for 2006-2008. 2009 they changed a lot of things!

Yearly changes for LED installs?

I looked at my 2009 SS and all the gages, interior panels look the same as the 2008. I wonder why the LED upgrade would not work? I guess I will need to check and see.

King, great write up. I wish I had half the skill you have. It is posts like this that keep enthusiasts alive and sharing. If everyone was content to leave factory cars alone, we wouldn't be here. We'd be driving slow, boring matching boxes around.

Individuality, boredom, creativity, and unselfishness are what I see.

Great mod. I dont trust myself to do such tedious work. But I would consider buying all the parts and sending them to someone who could, and paying handsomely for it. The end result is phenomenal.
