New HHR Owner
Welcome!
That's quite a gift! The panels sell at a significant premium around here.
You will be stunned by the difference once you get the neglected suspension squared away. These cars handle very well.
Be VERY careful when removing the lower control arms. The rear bolt goes into cage nut that likes to spin in its cage. May need lots of penetrant and time. Much written here about fixing the consequence of a spun cage nut.
Don't use the cheap generic shocks. KYB is very good, Monroe OESectrum acceptable, the rest varying degrees of junk. Just my opinion.
Change the oil often. Clean the MAF sensor and throttle body (but don't touch the butterfly!) Use the correct CRC sprays per directions.
Use ACDelco 41-103 plugs. No substitutes. No "better." No "just as good." No "these guys make them for ACDelco."
Good luck!

Kybs showed up yesterday.
a arms are delcos. Impact or breaker bar, does it matter for the cage nut?
i can tell itll handle, its decent now. Right front right engages ecs or esc when it encounters bumps at speed and i believe the tire loses contact with the road and grabs that corners brake hard. Always on a left hand sweeper on a rough part of the freeway. Really looking forward to front and back being squared away. Whole thing bumps and knocks over slow speed semi rough terrain.
was looking for maf cleaner i had from my 01 firebird formula. Ill have to grab some more. Oil catch can will be soon. Made a huge difference in the ls1 intake.
Always wanted a 427. Buddy had a 68 ss 396 4 speed. In hs, funnest car ive driven. Nothing pulls like a stout big block. Finally did it. Hydraulic roller, roller rockers, eagle rods, steel crank, forged pistons, t350, 3k stall, 373 posi, yada yada. Itll run up to 6400.
I bleed chevy orange. Love all engines from Chevys muscle era. First car was a 67 Chevelle, jr year hs. 1982. Had two more 67s and now the 66 vert.
Got it up on stands today and Foggit engine spray applied to all threads. This stuff is magic on rust and corrosion.
Tried to bust free the two long a arm bolts before soaking those areas for s&g's and both turned loose with an 18" ratchet. Very happy about that.
Low 70s tomorrow and close to 80 saturday, then low 70s Sunday here north of seattle. Perfect weekend to bust out some work.
