$100 Oil
Well Rey, its your country too, and you should love it not hate it.
The measure of any nation is the number of people that want in vs. the number that want out. Immigration vs. emmigration. New citizens vs. ex-patriates. I think that pretty much sums up the greatness of America.

The government is too large, complex, and corrupt to actually be representing our best and doing what is best for us. They can in some areas, but in all areanas? Nah, get real.
The whole "Love it or leave it" axiom is a fool cliche. Get a new one please, diatribe based on dogma such as that brings about a protective type of nationalism and isolationalism ( BTW, I'm an isolationist, but anyway.)
Our country , right or wrong is a better way to deal with things. Admitting we can do wrong things at times is a much more comprehensive overview, and allows for us to potentially make changes if needed. This country always needs tweaking and change, why else would so many wish to be in the political process or be appointed by these officials? Oh, besides the desire for absolute corrupt power?!
other than that Bush is not only a terorist, he is a drunk, and a complete imbecile and gives many more idiots the attainable goal of becoming president..get in line

Why is it that you are constantly pulling the race card? Up until this point i was unaware that this was a racial issue at all. As a matter of fact this was a discussion about oil that turned into a political thread. (which honestly i am impressed has lasted this long without the need for moderators to come in. goes to show that people can have a semi-civilized debate without the need for pettiness. now if our politicians could learn from us, but i digress)
As far as kanye not being able to voice his opinion. I believe that everyone has a right to their "informed" opinion. Informed being the key word. if you research the subject then make a decision on regarding your opinion, but key your mind open to the opinions of others then obviously everyone has a right to their "informed" opinion.
Having read kanyes remarks and given them thought i can conclude that "in my opinion" he is an idiot. therefore to me his opinion doesnt really count for anything.
The only thing i can infer from your writings is that while i believe that you are allowed to have your informed opinion, you do not believe that anyone who doesnt believe as you do should be allowed to have theirs.
yea yea
man i feel like in about 13 yrs old again when i hear all this "love it leave it"; this is my country

Harpozep..that was one great post....it is our DUTY as citizens to question authority....GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH....to hell withthe patriot act!
is kanye not free to voice his opinion, yet you chastize him for the same reason...if thats the case then your opinions suck too.

We all just have to realize we, as Americans ( And Canadians too
As I always like to say, We should not fear the government, they should fear us. Unfortunately they do, and have done a lot to keep us divided and off balance resulting in the runaway/no accountability/fingerpointing/blame the other mentality that pervades our great lands.
No time for fear, just vote those who you are dissatisfied out and try a new official. Of course the trouble with that is the powerful self righteous politicians feel "Entitled" to THEIR seat and do all they can to keep it. Lieberman anyone.....
I mean, what IS he? Lib, Con, Indy? Give me a break.......Done more good than bad, eh, So has Michael Jackson to some and at least he fled the country.but I digress....So we live in fear that the Democrats are going to take away all our rights and and open up our country to some one world, non-Christian government.
So we live in fear that the Republicans are going to take all our rights away and place those they see not fit into detention camps while practicing doublespeak saying we are getting stronger in the world all the while losing creditability abroad and at home.
So we need a third party that may speak the truth but always lose and be undermined by the corrupting influence of big money from the other two parties.
What to do?
Quagmire is the result for the most part, except when the president takes away rights from the congress and simply does what ever he feels in way too many signing statements.
Yeah, it's all for our own good. Yeah.
Never trust an elected official who does not allow any transparency within his administration. The only folks who really speak the truth seem only to be able to do so AFTER they leave public service. TO speak anything but what the emperor wants to hear is tantamount to treason in our society of fear. Bush practices this as a way of life. And I'm not saying liberals are immune either.
It's all a macabre dance in the haunted ballroom, but we are the ghosts to them, since they do not see us for what we are, and they are the ghosts to us since we cannot touch them and they are so self involved in simply being what they are.
If we live in fear, we let the terrorists win, and WHO keeps us in fear........, WHO are the terrorists........?
Yes its our duty to question government but national unity and consensus is also needed. If we would have had our current squabbling, distrust of the everything governmental, and anti-American attitudes running amok during W.W. II as they are today, the world would be speaking German.

Too many people have used that one. It really has no parallel to our current issue.
(I'm trying to be friendly, really )Right after 911, we HAD national unity. The uniter in chief blew it with obfuscation, finger pointing and outright lies.
This is NOT the same as WWII. This has no nation state as a fixed target, this is the chasing of INDIVIDUALS,. If we are to hold any nation state responsible, it would be the Saudis, the Pakistanis, and the Iranians, NOT the Iraqis. I don't think it is any of their goals for us to speak Farsi.
The terrorists from the Muslim world want those who disagree with them dead, no conquest other than annihilation. This has been going on in the rest of the world for a long time. It just took a horrible wake up call for the US to finally get it.
Yes, Osama and his cronies ARE terrorists and Dubya stated he would "Git'em!"
Well, within a year or so of the 911 attacks, Bush said some thing to the effect of" I, I don't think about him much, I don't know where he is..." You have seen the video, if not please do. I lost any modicum of respect I had left for him upon his utterance of those words. He would rather focus on Iraq, NOT the person who by all accounts attacked us. Obvisactor in chief with his own agenda, but certainly not our agenda.
I lost most of my trust in him when he refused to allow a committee to get formed to look into the 911 mess. As we knew, despite his objections , one did, and it did not persecute his administration alone, or really, hardly at all. His fears were unfounded, but he did not want any prying. THEN of course he would not and still will not testify to anything under oath.
If we study history, there really are no comparisons to any other administration that came before that holds up. These are different times, and we are ruled by a VERY power hungry, secretive and corrupt administration.
Corruption is a much finer art now than during the past. In fact everything his heightened because of the mass flow of information and the NEED for 24 HR news shows to hype something.
A lot of our distrust is well founded and a lot of it is hyperbole, but it is real difficult to sort out the "facts" in some cases when both sides are so righteous, have god on their side, and a paper trail with lawyers a mile long.
This is not a finite watr. It is a war without end, for people who are terrorist have and will always be out there. The idea that most concepts of togetherness to fight the common enimy will hold forever, is just not true. THe people never wanted this war, but it was thrust upon us. It is up to ust to steer the ship and use our millitary wisely.
They are a potent weapon, our military and should have long ago picked off Osama, if not for the outright side stepping ideas of our president and his disciples. Iraq, the war of great distraction from the truth.
Bush had unity, he blew it. The time to get Osama and use our forces wisely is long over I guess, or it would have been done. Now we are in a wholly much more frightening phase in the mideast, much of it Bush's doing. We are divided because a lot of people see that as well.
I have no immediate solutions, but "Stay the course" into another protracted war with Iran would be a very unwise move. Especially since we need more people in the military since we are stretched so thin. Time for the draft no one wants to admit to...........
Gotta get to work now. See ya'all later.......
