2006 Malibu Horn beeping by itself HELP!!!

My wifes Malibu. No matter locked/unlocked the horn will do short beeps like you are locking it just randomly. Also if you try the remote start it will sound the alarm. Now even worse while driving down the road, the horn started beeping. Obviously it's electrical, but i'm hoping someone here has heard of the problem. It is not the key fob, I tried that, and also unhooked the battery trying to reset the system. Left the car unlocked sitting in the driveway, and it still will randomly beep and lock the doors as well. Very strange, don't know what to do. 2006 Malibu, 40,000 miles. Any ideas, send them my way.

Sounds like a problem in the keyless entry/PassKey module. It may need reprogrammed or replaced. I'd take it to the dealer or a mechanic with a scan tool so they can pull the fault code or codes from the BCM and go from there.

Will there be a code thrown, because there are no lights on the dash that indicate a code. The only thing that i've seen was a couple weeks ago the antitheft light was on the dash, but went away that same day.

There will be a code stored in the computer, just don't unhook the battery before you take it in or the code will be cleared. Some codes are stored but not indicated because it might be a intermittent condition and it clears by itself. If the antitheft light was on I'd suspect a problem in the module.

Definitely will be a code. You need to know that before diagnostics can be done.

Took it to the shop, and they said the key fobs were bad. They took the battery out of it, and the car did not beep anymore. The one key fob is totally bad, and the other works except for the remote start. Hoipefully this is the issue. I will give it a could days, then I will look to order a couple new ones. Anyone know where I can get the key fobs for a good price, and can I reprogram them myself? Thanks for the input!

Well you can find the fobs on e-bay for good prices but I think the Malibu is like the HHR in the respect that you need a scan tool to reprogram the remotes.
