Even though the official inspiration is the Suburban, I've got to think that the some of the Fleetline snuck into the mix. Take a look at the '48 and see if you can see some of it in the HHR.
Agreed! My dad had a '48 Fleetline fastback, man, what a car!

Nice, a huckster's truck, hard to find those. Been years since I've seen one even at a car show, they were used and then used up, rarest body style these days.

Nice find! Now I really see where they got the look. As someone above said...I wish there was a kit or some way to make the headlights look round, even with a sheet of vinyl the color of the car and the main light cut out. I think u would have to do this while it was on the light to get a perfect match with headlight ring. Anyone know of any such thing?

I agree about the Fleetline. Here are a couple of pics I took with our HHR and my old 48 Fleetline. This was back when the HHR was still pretty new. No lowering or anything. I had taken the MoonEyes off for a winter trip. Other than faded paint the old 48 ain't looking too bad. All original and still less than 70k on the clock.

Yeah that's what I was talking about Songman. Awesome '48 you've got there and one super sharp HHR too! Glad to see someone with a Fleetline. The 46-48 Chevys are forgotten by most these days, overshadowed by the Advanced Design truck and the '49 cars, but they were lookers in their own right.
