I'm wrecked and so is the Paddy-Wagon.

Sorry to hear that. Glad you are going to be ok. I know the head pain as I have two scars from breaking my drivers window with my head as well.

Most importantly, glad you are ok. Secondly, Paddy can be repaired. Rest up!

Mike, really sorry to hear this. The main thing that you HAVE to do is take care of yourself. Your body has suffered a tremendous trauma. There may be underlying issues that have yet to rear their ugly head. Anything involving the ACL takes a long time to heal. This is a season ending injury for most pro athletes. Do not try to hurry the healing process (voice of experience). Don't overlook any strange symptoms.
A little over ten years ago I was sitting at a red light when a lady ran into the back of my car. The police estimated her speed at 55-60 mph at time of impact. Thank God I was in my El Dorado and not my S10. She pushed me 10-12 ft. into an Explorer causing $2500 damage to the Explorer. My El D was totalled as was the brand new Nissan rental she was driving. I spent 8 hrs. in the ER but suffered no serious injuries. At the time all I really had was a very sore neck and a headache that didn't go away for over a week. The day after the accident I started to see bright flashes every time I closed my eyes. Back to the ER in the middle of the night and then to an eye doctor to have the torn retina welded up. I had various aches and pains for almost a month which my doctor attributed to the accident.
Please don't take anything that occurs over the next few weeks for granted. Paddy can be fixed rather easily compared to what it will take to fix and heal your body.
You have been added to our prayer list. Rest, relax and listen to your wife.

Prayers going out for your recovery, Mike - and Paddys.
(although knowing what I do about crashes, it doesn't sound too good for Paddy....)

Just stumbled out for some more pain meds, not interfacing too well with these crutches, Michelle is convinced that as slowly as I'm hobbling around....getting rear ended by a glacier is a real possibility.

Thankfully, Keith Moon has stopped the drum solo in my head, now the pounding is more like Gene Krupa on a slow jazzy number, always be thankful for the little things.

Based on the preliminary estimate from the body shop, Paddy will roll again after some TLC and a fair amount of money from either the idiot's underwriter or State Farm. I'm trying not to give in to morbid curiosity guessing at the damage total, but the shop is almost certain its below the level of "totaling" out the Paddy-Wagon.

Tomorrow Enterprise is dropping off a minivan as part of the rental coverage on our policy, yeah we do have a surplus of vehicles, but I'll be needing something that I can get in and out of with minimal fuss. As I found out today, a non functional leg + the Spousemobile = you gotta be kidding me, how the heck can I get out of this thing?

Hopefully my wife doesn't take a chapter from a commercial that runs down here for a personal injury law firm, the husband in the commercial is in a body cast so his wife ties him to the roof like a dead deer....I know Michelle might be tempted, but those roof racks are very uncomfortable.

I'm trying to keep my sense of humor about things rather than giving in to be upset/angry/furious about the situation.

Once again, thanks so very much to all of you for your kind words and thoughts, I've said it before and I'll say it again....we're a family here, and I appreciate your friendship and kindness like you can't imagine.

Talk to y'all again in a few hours or so, you are the best, each and every one of you.

I hate those red light runners (I support the use of cameras at intersections). I am always worried about getting wrecked as my '06 HHR with 91+K miles would easily get totaled and the HHR is out of production and GM has nothing out there that would replace it. I hope you get back on your feet soon and your HHR gets all fixed up good as before.

Oh man, that sucks, sorry to hear that...back in 1992, I was taking a couple to my fraternity semiformal dance (so they could drink w/o having to worry about driving later) in my VW Fox wagon, when a Civic ran through a stop sign. It happened so fast that I couldn't even hit my brakes...I hit her going 45 (the speed limit)...both cars were totalled. What made it even worse it that the woman claimed not to see the stop sign...the officers all had a "How could you not SEE that sign?!" incredulous look on their faces. She did apologize to me profusely for not seeing it though.

We all banged up to various degrees, but nearly as bad as what's happened to you. Hope you and your ride recover quickly.
