Joke
An ordinary day in an ordinary Soviet tank regiment.
The commander of a tank regiment (Colonel) at the meeting announces: Today, 28 tanks arrived at the manning department. They need to be distributed over 7 companies. I counted, for each company is obtained by 13 tanks. By morning should be distributed. Is everyone clear?
The lieutenant (the company commander) gets up and says: "Comrade Colonel, something is not clear to me. How to distribute 28 tanks to 7 companys of 13 each? I have something does not fit".
Colonel: "Well, Lieutenant, you can be forgiven, you recently from college, you do not know how to count. Now I will teach. 28 divide by 7: 8 / 7 = 1 and 1 in the remainder. We write "1". 20+1=21. 21/ 7 = 3 left. We write "3". See, it turns out 13".
Lieutenant: "And for some reason I can't".
Colonel: "Because you were poorly taught. Let's check. The division is checked by multiplication. 1 * 7 = 7, 3 * 7 = 21. 21 + 7 = 28. Here, everything is correct".
The lieutenant poked, poked into the calculator, and again: "Comrade Colonel, I can't do it at all".
Colonel: "Good. What else can check the division? By the addition. We count: 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 7. 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 21. 7 + 21 = 28. What else do you not understand"?
The lieutenant thought and thought and humbled himself.
Colonel: "By morning report that the tanks are distributed"!
Lieutenant: "Comrade Colonel, well, let's say, I will get 13 tanks. How do I distribute them across 3 platoons"?
Colonel: "Why are you so stupid, lieutenant? Chief of Staff, explain to this stupid lieutenant how to distribute tanks".
Chief of Staff: "Look, lieutenant, you get 13 tanks. 3 tanks you give in 3 platoons, and 1 remains for you. Everything".
