A quick update on my Mom...
Hey everyone, Mom's been in surgery now for a bit over five hours and we just got an update from the OR, things are going well. The doctors expect her procedure to last another 4-5 hours and then she'll be moved to recovery up in Intensive Care. No news on the exact size of the mass other than it involved more of the head of the pancreas than they'd originally suspected, not sure what all that really means at this point.
Dad is holding up well-ish, Michelle and I are feeling the effects of no real sleep since the night before last. Well there ya go, that's all for now, more later on. Take care folks and be well.

OK, well Mom came out of the OR a bit after 5 today and all is looking good so far. She'll be in intensive care for the next 3-4 days before being moved to a private room. As long as there are no complications we can expect Mom to be released by next weekend, then there will be a home recovery period of 4-6 weeks.
Although the cancerous mass was larger than the doctors had initially expected, they do believe that they were successful in removing it all. We have a meeting with her medical team in the morning to go over the questions that we have. Right now she is resting comfortably, which is the hospital's terminology for drugged senseless and full of tubes. Its hard to see Mom like that, but we're hopeful nonetheless. Thanks for your kind thoughts everyone, now its back upstairs until they make us go home for the night.

I was actually apprehensive about viewing this thread as our family went through this a few years ago. Not nearly as fortunate though. May God bless your mom and family. I think that He already did...

Thanks everyone for your thought and prayers, she's doing well right now, they threw us out of the hospital finally so we're back at the house. Too wired right now for sleep even though I'm exhausted, have to see what y'all have been up to today.
