A quick update on my Mom...

Good to hear everything is going as well (or better) than expected.
It's funny that I seem to hear people being surprised with the level of food quality at hospitals these days. That was our experience as well with recent hospital visits. Not that unreasonably priced, either. We sort of preferred the hospital cafeteria over the Carl's Jr. across the street. Only problem was you lost in the labirinth of halls down in the basement attempting to find the cafeteria.

Hmmm, getting lost in the maze that is the hospital, yep we've been down that road too Krash. Mom is in a private room now and much happier, I just don't know how they expect people to get well in the ICU when I've heard crashes at the race track make less noise.
She spent three hours in the chair today which is good, and then we took a little walk to the nurses station and back, not sure who felt better after that me or Mom. Gotta tell ya that the chairs must have been designed by the Marquis De Sade, or at least his first cousin, oh my aching back!
Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers, still looking like we're on schedule to see her sprung and back home by Wednesday.

Dressing change time so the nurses ran us off to the cafeteria, coffee still sucks but the cherry turnovers are yummy. Mom continues to improve, her appetite is coming back as evidenced by her growling at us when we commented on how good her turkey dinner looked yesterday.
Things are still on track to see her released on Wednesday and I've made arrangements with a medical transport outfit to take her home in an ambulance. Riding 45 minutes in a car would probably be too much right now so she'll get the deluxe treatment. So far so good as they say.

And she's going home today!! Got word that they are springing Ma this afternoon to continue her recovery at home. Just waiting on the official release time/paperwork/doctors/other hosital BS so the private ambulance folks know when to come and gather her up for the deluxe ride back to the house. It'll be good to get out of this hospital, but I'll miss the cafeteria food, how sad is that?
Folly Island here we come!

Just came across your posts, glad to hear your mother is going home. I know how ICUs and hospitals can be, spent too much time in one myself when my father was there.
I'm sure being home in a more comfortable environment will do your mother well. Just make sure she doesn't feel it necessary to try and do housework too soon. I hope things go well and she can get back to a normal life again soon.
