I really thought the Geo Tracker was cute, and the gas mileage of those cars was incredible!! But, drove the tracker once, and only once --- I thought it would turn over on one of my "Turn left HERE -- right HERE!!!" turns.
It's huge...

I'm starting w/ the Outside for now, Mainly because the interior is badass... It needs a headliner, But it's coming this week, Along w/ a new Windshield.

For now, When it gets done, It's going back to it's old color, Of Buckskin Metallic. It's faded, So it looks brown. But on the parts that aren't faded, It looks gold!

It's got some wiring issues that I need to take care of. For instance, The Lights(ALL OF THEM) flicker at night. So I've got to fix that. There's alot of exposed wiring under the dash that needs to be taken care of, The Previous owner thought he was an electrician.

It really is a huge car, W/ a huge appetite. The way this thing eats gas, Is comparable to the way I eat Steak. (I took on a 72oz steak and almost won) It's also my daily driver, While my sis drives the Swift.

That's not to say the car hasn't scared me. One night, Coming home from work, My dashboard started smoking. I stopped on the side of the road, And shut the car down while I **** my pants. Waited 5 minutes, and it cleared. Went home quickly. Very quickly. Well, It hadn't done it anymore, So I thought I was out of the woods. Next night, It did it again. Well, I decided I was sick of it, And got under the dashboard to see what was melting. My car has an aftermarket Oil Temp. Gauge. The Thermocouple for it was getting so hot that it was melting a ground wire that lit the face of the gauge. Needless to say, I ripped that out... Problem solved.

The engine itself is smoother than a baby's ass. It's loud too. The car has no exhaust on it past the cat, Also the previous owner's doing. He tried to hotrod the engine, By putting a 3 1/4 Race cam in it. That essentially killed the cruise control, Because It can't get enough vacuum for it to function. It has no problem starting though... And running at stupid fast speeds...

It is carbureted, W/ a Rochester Quadra-Jet spreadbore 4-barrel. Quadra-jets when done right, Can be better on MPG than many fuel injection systems. But not this one... This one hisses, And says FEED ME.

But I am slowly changing everything back to stock. That includes the stock stereo head unit. Which I'm modifying so I can plug my iPod in. I bought an original for it, As the previous owner had replaced it w/ some $40 Wal-Fart Special That no longer works.

But it is evident that it is my car. It shares many traits with me.

My wiring isn't exactly normal either, lol. Depression runs rampant on my Mom's side. It shows sometimes.
My car needs a headliner. I need a haircut.
My car is Huge, And Hungry. I am huge & hungry.
My car's headlights flicker a bit. So do mine at work, lol. (sleepy)

I do believe that cars have personalities. Same types that we as humans have. Mine's 30 years old going on 18. It's slowly becoming more and more itself.

Well, I've always been around cars. I have built, raced and restored cars. I worked on them for a living. I've depended on them for my work. But I have always went to the nearest car show when I could. My wife bought me a T-Shirt a few years ago, I wear to shows.

After I get out of college and settle down I really want to restore a car. It would be cool to do it with my dad and grandpa. I would love to find an old SAAB 96 with the two-stroke in it.

I just had to ask, were you waiting for the smell of your "deed" to clear in the air And, of course you went home quickly - who wouldn't after doing that?

Sounds like you are going purist on it, with the exception of your creature comforts like the Ipod jack. So, I bet it will still be loud even after you fix the exhaust system - you don't want it to purr like a kitten, do you?

I think we're related.

Do you really know how to fix all those things on that car? It's so amazing to me.

Yep, It's all relatively simple. Camshafts not so much, I don't have the means or tools for that. But I know some people that do it cheap. But the rest; Exhaust, Stereo, Wiring, Is all pretty simple. Just have to pay attention to what you're doing.

LOL, Yeah, The Stench sucked... FROM THE SMOKE!!!

BTW, The exhaust is actually going to quiet the note a lot. The engine itself is pretty quiet, Just not the big 2-3/4in pipe running out the back...

Homer Glen is in Illinois between Orland park and Lockport/Joliet north of new lenox and south of Lemont. I dont have a huge house but my dad does. I was a mechanic for 12 years before I decided that I didnt want to work on other peoples crap anymore and wanted to focus on my own. Eventually my Vette will be nice... eventually....

Chris, have you or your dad ever shown these cars? You know, at the real customized car shows? We have car shows down here that are basically old, well-kept cars. I like to see the modified ones. My friend and I once went to the national event in Atlantic City. Those cars there were amazing!

Talk about old school.!!!!
Glen. I love that Chevy coupe, great looking car, love the pic that is fantastic. I never had anything that wild although my cousin still has a Fiat that runs Hot Rod, but it isn't as neat as the coupe. That thing looks great, tell me more about it, engine, times, still running?
