Difficult shifting after clutch replaced. What's going on?

And I still say "operator error" or "faulty throw out" if a clutch only lasts 40,000 miles in any car. Sorry, if that offends.
Maybe don't drive it if the clutch is not feeling right: slipping or not disengaging fully. If it is not fully disengaging, every time you shift gears you are slipping the clutch; might as well drive with your foot on the pedal.
But, I don't really trust GM service diagnoses. Too many times I've heard "replace it" when a simple tweak would do the job. "Needs a new computer". "needs a new door panel because the handle broke", etc. They don't fix things they replace things.
I would not go to an independent mechanic and tell them to replace something on the strength of a GM diagnosis. They will do anything you tell them to do.
