Newbie question/Oil change

Taking the wife's 06 2LT for it's first oil change, since we bought it, do you reset the % counter through the DIC?

Read your Owner Manual. The procedure is in it.

or turn the key on, but do not start it - then press the gas petal rapidly several times until it resets.

Yes, you need to do it through the DIC. Cycle until you get to oil life, press both bottom buttons together until you see oil life at 100%. Should only take a couple of seconds.

That works with the 2.2 and 2.4. With the SS 2.0 you have use the buttons on the steering wheel.(per the owners manual)
I tried the gas pedal sequence on my SS. Doesn't work that way.
