I guess Advance Auto had been monitoring this forum and got wind that they were underpriced for these oil filters. They have almost doubled their price and are now $8-.

That's interesting....the dealer's retail is something like $7.50. I also know, because had a talk with their store manager, that WalMart overcharges as well. I think their price is like $8.85. I even presented a sales slip to the manager as evidence of the dealer price. The price has not changed however.

I noticed and have purchased the AC from Auto Zone. It was about $5.00+.

Opps disregard. I just saw you were talking about an SS. Unless it is the same filter as the 2.4, I can't tell what the price is.

Auto Zone in my area does not carry the PF457G oil filter. Ive asked. They said you need to get it from the dealer. The dealers by me want over $10 a filter.

Now that you mention that......

I asked the Auto Zone store manager to stock them, after he inquired if I needed assistance.....looking at the filter display. He tried to interest me in a competitive brand, which I declined. We talked some more and he advised he would try to order them.

About 2-3 weeks later I was in the store and they had 3 on the shelf. I bought those and 2 others for other vehicles I own. As stated, I paid around $5.00/ea for them.

I was in this store again, maybe 6 months ago, they still had them stocked. Additionally my GD has a new Malibu with the 2.4. Still takes that filter and she buys them there.

Told a long story, to establish a point. Maybe making a request to the store manager would result in stocking these filters.

I just looked at my recent receipt from a GM dealer. The List price is $7.52. I paid $5.26. You might try another dealer. Many dealers pay a different price for Delco items, based on their volume, incentives and purchasing status.
