Where do you find it with rebates and all?
-2.0L Turbo w/o Stage 1 kit -i would use GM4718M
-2.0L Turbo w/ stage 1 kit -i would use GM4718M
-2.2L Standard -i would use GM6049M
-2.2L w/ optional after market engine mods. -i would use GM4718M
-2.4 Standard -i would use GM6049M
-2.4 w/ optional after market engine mods. -i would use GM4718M
i buy oil when it is on sale and rebate. i have around 10 oil changes worth of GM4718M rated synthetic that i paid about $2 a quart.
i would use a full synthetic on a turbo or modified engine. the extra cost is nothing, especially if you watch for sales and rebates.

okay, the last two rebates were valvoline synpower and quaker state q horsepower ultimate durability. they were both last month. i haven't found any good ones recently.
the synpower you had to buy 10 qts and send in 5 bottle rings to get a $25 rebate. there was concurrently a sale at o'reillys (a chain that replaced murray's auto parts here) where they had synpower and PP (pennzoil platinum) for $3.99. anyways, it was around $40 + 6% tax - $25. so, $15 and change for 2 oil changes after sending in my rebate form, 5 bottle rings taped to a piece of paper, and original reciept.
the quaker state was $10 off 5 qts of QSHPUD. so, i went to walmart and bought the 5qt bottle for $19. then, i sent in my rebate form and original receipt.
i go to a website called BITOG (bob is the oil guy), and go to the product rebate, sales, and promotions sections. whenever there is a big rebate on a GM4718M rated oil i buy. i just drew a line in the sand, though. i just have an unmodified 2.2L, so i do not NEED synthetic i just prefer it. so far i have not cheated on the rebates, but i am considering having my mom or brother send in rebates for me so as to get twice as much oil cheap.

if you want, i can post a link the next time there is a big rebate.
between rebate shopping and buying AC Delco oil filters at advance auto for $4.62, i can do a full synthetic oil change on my HHR pretty cheap.
i just have to say, and i have said it on here before, the HHR is amazingly easy to change oil on.
