I played with the copper lever switch (at the bottom of the ebrake) with the brake on/off, lights on/off and every other possible combination. It's a one-wire switch. All I could see when I moved that lever was that the dash brake light came on. Nothing else. Very satisfied with pulling the fuse. I may not even try to put a switch in. If I want DRLs, I'll turn the headlights on.

see if this helps. I've been in to the guts of the interior before.

What I meant was either the light is controlled by the "computer" or the "computer" knows that the e-brake is on because it sense the light is on.

The one wire is most likely "ground". I don't feel like finding wiring diagrams right now.

Thanks for the suggestion Smoke but I think I'm all set. Pulling the fuse was the easier and simpler solution.

Update: I just took a look at your interior strip-down. You really went the whole nine yards. I'll have to bookmark that.
And I checked my manual - I don't have the Cheerios option.

No problem. There's too much computer/interconnected crap anyway. It's hard to isolate individual items. And I'm no electrical engineer. That's for sure.

Basically on an HHR everything electrical has some connection to a computer, there's a couple of 'em.
