Frankly Ben, I wouldn't worry about the handling, you'll probably need to redo it anyhow. Although the foam probably doesn't weight much, collectively and with the glass work at locations the car was not originally designed for, your steering and handling will probably be somewhat compromised over the original intent.

But as you suggested, using a balanced spacer system, may be a good starting point.

looks good , don't sweat the handling trial and error from this point, try spacers on the rear first then the front check out the look , handling and feel.

Thanks for the words of advice guys!
I put SS springs on the rear to level it out, and even with the extra weight added, she is already handling better :)

Sorry for the late reply Ben, but all excellent advice above.

Just remember that spacers need frequent checking of the torque on the spacer and the rims, having a wheel passing you on the highway is something you only want to do once.

P.S. still workng on the side project, would it be possible to have you e-mail me some photos of the Super 8 in its embryonic stages?

Hey Mike, there's no reason to apologize for anything buddy. Thanks for the words of advice on checking the torque on the spacers. And if you look in the pictures in my gallery from before the Buick Super 8 progress thread, you will find a bunch of pictures from the very beginning of this project :)

Don't trust my memory, that's just what I think I remember.

But the first memory that comes to mind is usually the right one Don. Just like taking a test... If you second guess your answers, odds are you end up replacing correct answers with incorrect ones. But I will figure out the handling on my ride, one way or another.

Yup, found some good stuff in your Gallery for the contest collage Ben, should have looked there more closely. Mark it up to mild senility and vacation induced exhaustion, too much "fun" can be deleterious.

You are too young to be senile.... Must be the vacation hangover :)
Glad the pictures worked out though.

Had that happen on my Sonoma... Sheared 2 of the studs and bent the other 3, ruined the wheel(aluminium). Never want that to happen again...
