For Ben

A 1931 Buick roadster.

[QUOTE=Benjiwah;703753]Here is the most recent shot of my project of fabricating new body panels to make my HHR pay tribute to the 1950-53 Buick Super 8.

Sweet roadster pic Boydie, do you remember when "Rumble Seats" were also called "Mother in Law Seats"? With the top up, you couldn't hear her complaining back there, man I wish they'd make a comeback.

Yes I do.

BTW the '31 Buick had a modern V-8 with modern running gear.

Nicely done because you really couldn't tell by looking unlike most street rods.

Really, wow! That's a sweet build, I only spotted the wider cross section tires after blowing the image up, they're the only clue, and a subtle one at that.

Wooden spoked wheels and all, I would've never guessed that to have a V-8 either! Too cool...Thanks again Boydie!

Hey Benjiwah......

How about a little trivia????????

Automotive Trivia

Automotive Trivia

Why did Buick begin using the model name "Electra" starting in 1959?

A. In Greek mythology, Electra was Apollo's fleetest messenger.
B. The Electra edition of the 1959 Buick Roadmaster included unique electronics such as window defrosters, fender mounted turn signal indicators and "star view" instrument panel lights.
C. Buick's president chose to name the car after his relative, the sculptress Electra Waggoner Biggs.

I borrowed this trivia from a publication and was wondering if you knew the answer....anyone???? Not fair to look it up. I'll provide the answer if the first couple people don't have the correct answer.

I'll have to disqualify myself. I saw that on an automotive website newsletter recently.

That is a great trivia question!
B. Would seem like a logical answer, but logic and obscure trivia rarely converge. And I don't know if those were actual features of a 59 Buick. So my hunch is A. or C. but I don't really know.

I'll go with "A" as Electra was one of the three trim levels/model names introduced in 1959, the others being LeSabre and Invicta.

These three names were represented in Buick's redesigned Triple Shield ornament/logo still in use today.
