I looked at those cheaply priced hoods the
Reason I went with the $100 hood is the low profile
And the way the 3m tape is in a hidden piece
On the side far under the hood making it to me worth

As far as the scoop looks that comes Down to personal preference.
To answer the op.
If it is just for looks use 3m tape.then If you really like it a month later then I would cut a hole trying not to hit the braces.
I would also try to seal the air box to the scoop.
What is Dave's handle that dual bump cowl induction scoop is awesome.
Looks like a twin Turbo small block Chevy is hiding under there.

I thought the same thing when I was lurking around here reading posts before I got my Imperial Blue Metallic LT. I've had many people mistake it for a black one at night. If it's not in the light, it does look black. One of the things that drew me to my HHR....
