Do yourself a favor and watch your Dad do one caliper, and then do the other side yourself. Your Dad will be around in case you get jammed up(not likely), and you'll gain knowledge and more importantly...confidence. Its normal to have some doubts and unease when you tear into a new project or unfamiliar territory, but take a deep breath and work methodically, the results will surprise you.

I bought G2 Caliper paint from Tire Rack
the kit cost about $50 but had everything needed to prep and paint the calipers
I just jacked it up mixed the paint brushed it on let it dry
be sure to Prep them before you paint so the paint will bond wright . )

Great advise, IMO. You could also let Dad do one side and you do the other with him as the mentor....watching and tutoring.

I used the Duplicolor kit, paint is not sprayed you brush it on.Can be done leaving the caliper on.Had used engine enamel, but doesn't hold up to brake dust that well.Like the way they turned out, almost looks like powder coat

HHRNole.....

I think that may be the kit I wrote an earlier post about. Did that kit have templates to mask off the areas not painted?

Tools that you will have for other needs.. Like I said long ago..

I used www.eastwood.com new Motor Paint. Good to 650* & A quart is only $32.

Brush it on & it levels out just like spray paint. But much deeper shine.

I had great experience with the Duplicolor kit. I used a red kit for the calipers. I removed them from the car, but didn't disconnect the lines. I hung the calipers from the fender wells with wire. The kit is brush on, which with a steady hand, does not require masking. It flows on light and takes 3 coats. The first coat will look like crap. Once you get to the 3rd coat, it looks like powder coat as HHRNole stated.

I didn't want too much red behind the wheels, so since the caliper brackets come off separately from the calipers, I got Duplicolor black caliper spray paint and did the brackets in black.

There's enough paint in the kit for 2+ cars, so we did my son's Cobalt at the same time as well. We did the calipers and brackets on the Cobalt all in red.

We used Rutland 1200F Stove Paint for the Cobalt's drums and the exposed areas of the rotors on both cars (center hub area).

Caliper lettering came from eBay.

I did them over a year ago and they're holding up fine.
