Update!!!

well nobody said anything cool ever came easy..and this "little" job has proved no better..got the bag out no worries..low and behold the original spline has a "master" spline in it...grant hub adaptor..(try#3)..all spline..no master..size still out by a shade...so....when in doubt...use a bigger hammer..lol..off to the machine shop we will go...gunna hone out the original spline on grant adaptor..knock the original spline out of the center of old HHR wheel...weld er up...I didnt expect this to be an easy project and yes I have figured out a way to restore all the other airbags..the original airbag from the HHR will now be mounted in a steel box under the dash..still active but not a danger to anyone..this will keep my light from going on and all the other airbags..i.e.pass..side airbags..will still function as factory spec..the down side..the horn will now have to run off a button as the setup just wont work on a car that had a bag in the wheel..(its a goofy setup)

update...

lots a luck today...the car gods hav smiled apon me once again..my idea worked!!
removing the spline wasnt bad atall..make sure you wear safety glasses when you do this..when it went into the hydraulic press..it exploded..cheap cast..to be expected..the Grant hub adaptor was then bored out to "almost fit" the outside diameter of the HHR spline donated from the old wheel...had to go back to the car..line everything up and find the spot you want the wheel to be...I hate ****eyed steering wheels..back to the shop tomorrow to have the old spline pressed into place..a tig or 2 will help it just incase it ever wants to come loose(safety sake)....this has been a long road to travel for a new look but in the end I hope its all worth it..[IMG][/IMG]
