Drive it down here to Virginia and I'll open the hood and scratch my head.

I apologize, but I just realized that you are located in Nova Scotia according to your profile. Well its gone 2 years without a catastrophic failure, so your question answers itself really.

If you're wanting GM to transport it to another dealer, the answer will probably by a polite "no", but if you're willing to take to a different dealer, I'm betting you'll finally get it fixed.

Don's answer wasn't meant as sarcasm, and neither was mine.

We're just trying to point out that you would have had a major failure long ago if the noise was related to an internal engine component.

Have you considered taking it to an independent repair facility to have it checked out, if they find and rectify the cause of the noise, then you present the bill to your dealership for reimbursement.

I am still trying to understand this "warranty" thing.

You were given a booklet about the warranty when you bought the car, it is probably in the same place as your Owner Manual.

If you are talking about the GM new car warranty you can take it to any GM dealership for warranty work.(period) One Dealer is not going to drive it to another Dealer for you, they claim to lose money on warranty work as it is. BTW, that's any GM dealer, not just any Chevrolet dealer. It is GM that pays for the work, not the dealership.

It sound like you think "voiding" a warranty is the same as having to "drive it yourself" to a different dealer for warranty service.
