Thank you all for the info. I put everything back together with no luck as to where the sensor would go. Since the car is having starting issues I'm going to replace the starter. It makes a weird noise as if the starter is spinning and not engaging. Will update as I go. Will also try and get those codes.

When you have the starter out, have a look at the ring gear on the flexplate. See if the teeth are damaged or missing. Maybe there's an inspection cover you can remove and get a better look.

What part of "The 2006 2.2L does not have camshaft position sensors" are you not understanding?

I even attached a technical description of the system!

Wait, this started as a no start condition - and after numerous questions/suggestions and more questions, we NOW hear that the starter spins, but it doesn't sound like it's flippin engaging?

I'm sorry, but I'm out on this one. I do not have the patience for a game of 20 questions.

Holy cow I didn't see the information you posted. I will have to get the codes to find out what is being called out on the check engine light. Obviously gm didn't program there crap right. Sorry for wasting any of your time.

I don't want to play 20 questions either. Like I said I'm going to replace the starter. Download any codes and go from there like all of you have said. Anyway thanks for your help.
