Yes that did erase any pending or stored codes. If the CEL is on there will be codes to read though.

My wild guess is that either the wire connection to the transmission or the the TCM got jiggled or broken or burned. All of that work gets close to those bits.

Depends on who did the work, I am assuming that the manifold and O2 sensor were fixed.

And please use complete sentences. Random words are fine on Twitter but don't help us help you.

RE: power steering - do a search for "Power steering recall" and you will find lots of info - it may fall under a free replacement by GM - at the very least it is not that expensive and a 15 minute job to replace if it is the motor that is causing problems.
Temperature control seems to be rather obvious. It looks like things related to the body control module. Connections have been known to come loose or suffer from corrosion. With the low voltages involved, any bad connection can cause problems.

The codes will tell you what sensors aren't reading values within normal range but it won't tell you why the readings aren't within range. For instance, if the oxygen sensor is reading rich, it might not be a problem with the sensor. The system might be getting too much fuel because of a bad injector. If the cam sensor readings are out of range, it might be a bad actuator.

I think you might mean a U0101 Code, the V0101 Code is used on GM HD trucks equipped with Allison Automatic Transmissions.

U0101 Chevrolet - Lost Communication With Transmission Control Module

Possible causes can be:

* Faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM)
* TCM harness is open or shorted
* TCM circuit poor electrical connection

I'd suggest taking your HHR to a competent transmission shop or trusted technician for a more in-depth diagnostic check.

Has anybody thought to at least look at the transmission connector?

I am also guessing that the "cracked manifold" is actually a cracked flex pipe which caused a O2 sensor code.

Actually it isn't, as he said "Temp cont doesn't work(display?), " - is he talking about the temperature gauges? Since he never clarified, we may never know.
