Manual here too. Force of habit to use the emergency brake. All holds well here.

I've never had that problem, but only because I always set my parking brake to avoid that exact problem. Majority of your experienced manual drivers will tell you to always set your parking brake. I think some consider 1st gear as the same thing as "Park" on an automatic. But when you think about it, the car is actually in gear. So there is always the possibility of it rolling if one doesn't set their parking brake.

While many people call it am emergency brake, it is actually a parking brake. One should always engage that brake when parking a standard shift vehicle in particular, but it does not hurt to use it even with an auto transmission. Transmissions are not meant to hold a vehicle in place, especially on an incline.

That's always the smart thing to do, the parking pawl in an ATX is often pretty skimpy. They're sometimes just a little lever looking thing or a pin about 3/8 of an inch. I've seen many of these things broken over the years by people relying on them to hold a car in park while on a hill.
