Ya like 843de says, give it a try, can't hurt.

Sometimes it all matters on how much you complain or how much of a salesmen you are and sell them on the idea of helping you out.

Suxs to hear your just over the 80,000, keep trying someone at the higher level, if 843de's contact can't help, Ask for His (Todd Newsome's) Superior and go from there, you may get someone to either pay or discount the repair.

You might mention that as well when you call Todd Newsome

So I just called Chevrolet. I told them the situation. They mentioned a bulletin that pulled up and an 2006 HHR was one Chevy model mention. It had something to do with the emissions and the diagnostic center...so if thats what wrong its paid for, if its the catalytic converter AND they say its not normal wear and tear there is a chance they will help. So I go to the Chevy dealer tomorrow to get it diagnosed.

Well of course, theyre not going to help me. I mean I guess a compay as tiny as Chevy cant afford to help someone out. Someone told me this guy will clean it out for 90 bucks and sometimes it works. Anyone ever heard of that??

I think by "cleaning it out" they mean knocking the monolith our of it and leaving an empty housing. Besides being illegal, it will set a check engine light and related codes because of the large drop in normal exhaust back pressure, costing you money to get that squared away. Its a hard bullet to bite, but its best to replace the converter and then go after Chevrolet for some sort of allowance.
