The only thing those are good for is wasting your money. Even if you by the US version of the Tech2 you will have to pay someone (dealer) to update it periodically. And GM is getting ready to do away with support and updates for the Tech2. GDS is the new wave now.

So in your opinion, when GM goes to the GDS, would that be a good time (cost wise) to pick up a used Tech 2, for us guys that have the vehicles that still utilize the "old systems". Since GM will stop providing updates at some decision point, they would be up to date, for the systems they recognized. Is GM providing net based software to upgrade the old OBD!! and Can systems. Or will the dealers need to keep a few around to accommodate the OBD2 and CAN systems.
