Thanks for the info but unfortunately I've noticed the trade-in and resale on the HHR is crap to begin with lol. besides I plan on keeping it for a long time save any unforeseen circumstances.

 

I have one of those 'rings' on my roof.

My SS was a GM Exec car titled in Michigan for about 7 months before being sold to a northern Pennsylvania Chevy dealer and then I bought it with just under 4000mi on the clock. It now resides in northern Florida. I have no evidence or disclosure of any previous hail damage. It definitely looks 'under the paint' without any feathering around it. Any idea what it could be?

I'd run it by a body shop and ask them to take a quick look at it and ask for an estimate, and see if they can gather what caused it. It's kinda hard looking at the picture - could be hail, or a flawed repair etc..

It would give you a good discussion base for when you see a dealer about a possible warranty repair if that is suitable.

Thank you for the responses! (Man, do you guys ever sleep?) It's the only mark on an otherwise flawless roof. Need to take it in today, got about 400mi before it turns into a pumpkin for the bumper to bumper.

 

That's exactly what I had happen within a few weeks of buying my 2010 LT. Same kind of marks, three of them showed up on the roof. Mine is a GM CPO vehicle but the bumper to bumper warranty part of the coverage from my understanding wouldn't cover it. The warranty language makes it seem like it covers rust through only. I went to a body shop I've had good results with and they think while it looks old hail damage repair, it's possible something happened at the factory. Nothing was on the CARFAX report in regards to hail repair. I ate the cost of repainting the roof, grumble, grumble.

I also must note, the body shop said while it looks like old hail damage repair, they found no evidence of any prior repaint job on the roof. It makes you wonder.

 

I have my own PDR Business.....and I have never had a come back regarding anything like this.

To me....it looks like someone sanded through the clear...thats the only way that would have happened. I can push on a panel all day long...and if the paint doesn't break...nothing is going to happen.

Sometimes, PDR guys will sand an area after it has been pushed then polish it...to get rid of small "dimples". If they sand to much...they sand through the clear.....which looks like exactly what has happened....

 

I agree it looks like someone sanded through here. Add are it will not get any worse.
