Door Latch

The driver's door won't open on our 2006 HHR 1LT, either from the outside or inside.

Using the search shows that it's probably the door latch that has failed. As I understand it, the HHRs use an "integrated door latch" which also contains the power lock actuator.

I went to rock auto to order a replacement, but they only show one for the right front door and the two rear doors. A check of NAPA online shows the same thing. What is going on? My factory service manual shows the same setup for all 4 doors. What am I missing here? Do I have to go to the dealer (or gmpartsdirect) for the driver's door latch? There are no aftermarket latches (Dorman, etc) for only the driver's door?

Are the part numbers for the pass. side doors the same? I'm thinking the front and rear would most likely be the same.

Thanks for the part numbers.

It's still strange that Rock Auto and others don't list the driver's side part.

My son says the door started working the next day and still works.

Of course, I fully expect the problem to rear its head again soon, so I will be prepared when it happens.

The drivers door has the key lock so it may be more expensive.

Good Idea.

I should open up the door while it still opens and see if there is anything obvious wrong and also lube it.

It'll be much harder to remove the inside door panel with the door stuck shut!

Put some white lube on the outside part too. I had a rear door that was hard to open after the latch released; 1 dab of grease fixed it.

Question 2006 HHR LT door handle release cable

The cable snapped off where it connects to the handle and now I can't open the door from the inside. I've searched the internet and these forums but don't see anything about replacing the cable.
Anyone have any experience with this problem?
Thanks!
