flooded passenger floor

We also have a 2007 hhr. The blower on the heater went last year. Now this morning we had a soaked passenger floor. Friends said the heater core went? Or is it just a leak from rain? Not sure, never had this problem.

Welcome!

A 2007 Might have a "butyl patch". This link applies to 2006 and some 2007.

Welcome to the site, check the radiator coolant level, while it's cold. If it's down it could be the heater core, also the fluid on the floor would be orange in colour, rain water would be clear.

Thanks everyone. My husband said it was just water, no color, no oily feel. So I have a feeling it was rain water.

Gosh, the "Dreaded Butyl Patch Leak", remember when then this used to come up weekly?

Just follow Don's links in Post #2, and your floor will be dry forevermore.

For a 2007 it might be a wire loom boot on the door jamb, or A/C drain hose is clogged causing an overflow of the condensation catch tray.

X2 on the wire loom. That is most likely the culprit coupled with the butyl patch; the wire loom leak wont kill the blower motor but the butyl patch leak will. Easy check is to pull the panel off the door jamb and pull the carpet back and pour water over the loom; If it finds its way in you have found the leak!

For my car I did the butyl patch upgrade with an aluminum sheet, but in the end it ended up being clogged sunroof drains.

The water would pool up when it rained and then overflow down the pillars to the floor, depending on how I parked the car, one day it would flood the passenger floor the next the driver.

Get an air compressor nozzle with some rubber tape and tape the nozzle until it fits snug in the drain hole and blow out all the junk.

That used to let gallons of water in, I'm surprized nothing was damaged back then. But I've never had a problem since.

I think the foam under the carpet holds a bit over half a gallon before the carpet even feels wet.

Like these assorted nozzles, if you have a compressor
