Unhappy Had an accident with a hitch. Damaged ABS module.

Hello,

so i got in an accident with a hitch and it hit through radiator and damaged the ABS module. I went on ebay and bought a used module. Says traction disabled due to VIN not matching. How do i program this. I got more though.

Transmission won't go into reverse, slips light crazy has no power in forward. So turned out that ABS shorted my transmission module as well. No problem, bought one on ebay. Now there is communication with TCM, still same problem though.

Okay then, maybe i burnt something inside transmission. I go and REPLACE my transmission, now i got reverse, but same problem going forward. Transmission feels like its coming out in 3rd? Feels like one of the sun gears is not engaging.

I am lost. I am going to check wiring tomorrow maybe the wires to the plug of the transmissions are damaged.

Any help is appreciated. Especially on how can i program ABS module.

Both modules need programming to the VIN. A computer like a Tech2 with access to the SPS system is required. If it hit the TCM it surely hit the ECM, and probably the fuse box
There is no direct connection between the EBCM and the TCM

So would this mean the car is in "limp" mode until programmed? Transmission is *shifting* , there are no engine codes, only warning lights are traction and ABS light on.

There are no errors on the TCM, only on the EBCM saying vin doesnt match.

Another problem is that my key doesn't come out of ignition as if the car doesn't know my shifter is in park? This is all such a pain.

The shifter position is a switch on the lever on the transmission, not the TCM. If the security light is on the key is locked in.
If the EBCM is not working the Traction and ABS light up and the trans hard shifts.

So, I believe if you put the old TCM back program the EBCM and play with the park/neutral switch you should be done.

So I haven’t had much time to check on it and just been using wife’s car.

Today I unplugged the transmission plug and it literally makes no difference in the performance of the transmission. I am checking the wires right now. Seems like the 1-2 solenoid is not being activated

Not a hard job to drop the cradle on the driver’s side and remove the side pan

The second one down fried , but we replaced both.

You can see here the cradle comes down a couple of inches you need to disconnect the steering yoke. the_shmoo and I did the job in 5 or 6 hours. Jack stands and floor jack If handsome and you’re handy you can do this.

Did a jumper wire checking if there was voltage being sent to solenoid and none was sent on drive... but signal sent on reverse.

I had replaced tcm with a used one off ebay. I am going to try buying another one.

BTW, my car doesn't even start with the old TCM.

Yep, drop the cradle and transmission, replace the solenoids

A fairly easy job

I forgot to replug transmission after installing the new module ( i was testing the wires and solenoids were good).

New TCM did the job.

She is running and shifting great again.

Now to replace Rad, condenser and fan and then take it to a dealer to get ABS module programmed. My last transmission probably just had some bad solenoids but anyways at 170k miles it wasn't a bad idea to change it for one with 96k miles that i got for $300.

So here is a summary. Hit a hitch. That damages abs pump cracked the plug of the transmission.

1. Replaced ABS, car still didnt start.
2. Replaced TCM, car started. No reverse, no first gear.
3. Replaced Transmission, reverse is working. No first gear.
4. Replaced TCM again, car is working great.
