Having issues putting in gas, dealership is insane

If it's the fill valve, there's no CEL. You just can't fill it. It's all mechanical. Hope that helps.

Oh no, I'm not suggesting leaving it in there, more like using it as you need it to fill up. When you're done, take it out and throw it in the back till the next fill up.

But yeah, I'm gonna have to decide what's worth doing, the car isn't really worth much anyways it's beat up pretty good. Runs great tho, so it will be a good deal for someone that needs a cheap dependable car. The new owner will just have deal with or fix the issue.

If you're partial to smelling gas fumes, yeah that would work.

Try rotating the gas filler spout to the 90 degree position. I have the same issue (occasionally) with my Mustang and that is the workaround.

For me just pulling it out a little cures the auto shut offs.
