HHR ss won't start and won't release key

Definitely seek a replacement asap. Covered under warranty whether or not a problem has happened or not. Assessed as too problematic and dangerous to wait and see if it happens, although, too long in coming when it was agreed upon. Many cars were towed still running! I was unaware of it, but when my car was in for something unrelated summer 2012, I was told they replaced it during that visit due to a bulletin. And per Net info, it is a modified one since the original design was defective.

does any one think it could be the power steering motor blowing the fuse? I will tell the dealer about the switch today when i call as well

You never have said which fuse is blowing. There is a diagram on the fuse box lid. Find out which fuse then you know which system to look at.
