I'm having trouble with 3rd & 5th gears

I will say it's not the best 5spd I have owned and the shifting isn't smooth..

but yesterday when it was about 5*F (it's been colder) I could not get the damn thing into 3rd gear getting on the highway and then it would not go into 5th, so I had to keep her in 4th. Once it warmed up later in the day it was fine.

Anyone else with this?

Man, every week or so it's something different with this stupid car.

When you say you couldn't get it in gear, do you mean that the shifter wouldn't move into those positions, or that it went into the 3rd and 5th position, but the gears wouldn't engage?
If it's the later, I had that problem off and on with Reverse and 2nd. Took it to the dealer and of coarse, they couldn't duplicate.....

I had trouble getting into 2nd when the car was new, though it seemed to 'loosen' up with mileage, and has not been a problem for some time. We do not, however, have the cold temps that many of you have to cope with.

The shifter wouldn't go into position.

I currently have 18K on her.

I'd guess it's a shifter mechanism issue, not an internal transmission issue. We've seen sometimes where wiring harnesses under the hood can interfere with the lever mechanism on top of the transaxle. Is the issue still evident?
