yeah Buddy. I did my time where you are at. LOL I am from the area so good to be home. By the way the 18" low profile in the snow and ice. so becarefull. If they fix the problem I will be adding the Brembo brake kit (or it will be forsale) and getting a set of snowies for next year.

It shouldn't be a sensor sense it only effects the #3 cylinder. But the new motor will knock out the cylinder as the issue.

Have they ever run a compression test when the engine was cold?

engine update

Dealer called today the new motor is in. So I swung by at 5pm. New motor is in the cradle and ready to go back into the car waiting for a seal. cool.

BUT, I checked out the turbo sense it was out, curious to see how much soot was in it. First thing I noticed is on the 3 bolt flange opening the cast divider has a 2 inch long crack right down the center. Mechanic wasn't so I couldn't ask him directly but the service writer didn't think they were replacing that. I sure can't see why they wouldn't. I will be calling back tomorrow to make sure. I can't imagine that causing a #3 missfire but this is at least the 3rd time it has been out and I can't believe they haven't replaced it just to make sure. and if no other reason to avoid a future issue.

any thoughts???

Update, well I have loged daily start ups from -10 to 40 F and have yet to have an issue. So I guess the problem is solved. my guess is the rings were mariginal in the Number 3 cylinder. my caution on buying one is don't pass off the missfire as something minor as it usually is. Happy Motoring.

Has anyone ever had a problem with cylinder #1? Could a cat-less down pipe or IC and IC piping cause this?

I don't have an answer for you on the #1 cylinder. However I am now at 54k miles and no issues. motor replaced at 18k so evidently something was wrong with my #3 cylinder, piston or rings.
